TSUBAKI MASSAGE STEP 2

Décolleté & Neck Massage

A step-by-step guide to the décolleté and neck massage procedure used at Tsubaki Japan Wellness. Warm the décolleté and neck area, support lymphatic flow, and ease shoulder tension.

DÉCOLLETÉ & NECK MASSAGE PROCEDURE

Step-by-Step Guide

Follow the flow of the treatment from warming strokes to gentle lymphatic and shoulder care.

Effleurage décolleté and neck massage technique
STEP 1

Effleurage to Warm the Entire Area

Begin by warming the entire décolleté and neck area to promote lymphatic flow. (Reference: What is Effleurage?) Below the collarbone: Using the pads of your fingers, gently stroke from the center outward along the area beneath the collarbone. Massage along the hollow of the collarbone, moving from the inner side toward the shoulders as if guiding the flow. Gentle touch: Avoid strong pressure—use soft, smooth strokes. From under the chin toward the collarbone, slowly glide your fingertips down the neck. During this process, focus especially on the line from just below the ear to the collarbone (the sternocleidomastoid muscle).

Petrissage décolleté and neck massage technique
STEP 2

Petrissage to Stimulate Lymphatic Flow

The décolleté and neck areas contain many lymph nodes. Gently loosening these areas helps promote the drainage of waste and toxins. Place your fingers in the hollow above the collarbone (supraclavicular fossa) where the lymph nodes are located, and gently knead in circular motions. This helps reduce puffiness by promoting drainage of accumulated waste. Next, glide your fingers along the underside of the jawbone to gently stimulate the submandibular lymph nodes. Finally, to release tension in the neck muscles, gently grasp the sides of the neck between your thumb and index finger and perform kneading motions. Pay particular attention to the base of the neck and the area where it meets the shoulders.

Friction massage for neck and shoulders
STEP 3

Friction to Release Neck and Shoulder Tension

The base of the neck and shoulders are common areas for chronic stiffness. By incorporating friction, deeper layers of tension can be effectively released. Using the thumbs or the base of your palms, apply gentle pressure in small circular motions to loosen the muscles at the base of the neck. Then, use the pads of your fingers or the base of your palms to apply slow, deep pressure to the raised areas of the shoulders.
